Consultant in Pain Medicine & Anaesthesia Dr Joseph Azzopardi graduated from the University of Malta in 1993 and undertook higher specialist training in London at The Barts and The London School of Anaesthesia. He was a visiting fellow in Regional Anaesthesia in Sweden and in 2002 undertook a two-year fellowship in Pain Medicine in Australia. Medical Experience Dr Azzopardi is a Member of the British Pain Society the International Association for the Study of Pain, the World Institute of Pain, the International Neuromodulation Society and the Neuromodulation Society of UK & Ireland. He is a Consultant in Pain Medicine & Anaesthesia at Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospital as well as a Honorary Consultant in Queen Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, in Portsmouth. Dr Azzopardi is a Pain Management Consultant in a number of private hospitals in London including Highgate Hospital, the London Bridge Hospital, the Harley Street Clinic, the Lister Hospital and the Wellington Hospital. He also runs a dedicated Cancer Pain Service at the LOC - (Leaders in Oncology Care) and the Oncology Unit at the Harley Street Clinic. Area(s) of speciality / particular clinical interests Dr Azzopardi's specialist interests include interventional pain management, radiofrequency ablation pain therapies and neuromodulation (spinal cord stimulation & neuro-axial drug delivery). He also has a particular interest in interventional pain therapies and neurolytic ablative techniques and is trained to provide percutaneous cervical cordotomy for pain from advanced mesothelioma cancer.
