Dr Joseph Azzopardi
Consultant in Pain Medicine & Anaesthesia
Dr Azzopardi is a Consultant in Pain Medicine & Anaesthesia at Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospital.
Graduating from the University of Malta in 1993, he
received anaesthetic and pain training in Dublin and London.
In 2000, he was a visiting fellow in Regional Anaesthesia in Uppsala, Sweden.
Subsequently in 2002 to 2004, he
acquired advanced specialist training in Pain Medicine in Sydney and Adelaide where he
interests in interventional pain management, neuromodulation and cancer pain.
Dr Azzopardi is a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists UK.
was awarded the Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists
He is a Foundation Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
Dr Azzopardi treats patients with degenerative spine disease, back and neck pain, arm pain and sciatica.
dedicates a significant part of his
clinical time managing Cancer Pain and has been actively involved with the development of Multidisciplinary Integrated Cancer Pain Services at Guys and St.Thomas'
also contributes to the Acute Pain Service in Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital
Pain Medicine interests include Interventional Pain Management, Advanced Radiofrequency Ablation Pain Therapies and Neuromodulation (Spinal Cord Stimulation & Neuro-axial Drug Delivery).
also provides Medico-Legal specialist reports and accepts instructions for defendant and claimant personal injury.
Dr Azzopardi has a keen interest in Medical Education and sits on the London Deanery Pain Training Advisory Group Committee.
He has until recently been the Educational Supervisor for Advanced Pain Training in Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital.
Anaesthetic interests include Difficult Airway Anaesthesia, Regional Anaesthesia and Anaesthesia in the Developing World.
He has been the Lead anaesthetist on numerous charity missions in Ethiopia with Facing Africa and Project Harar.
