The Speaker of Parliament, Mr Edward Doe Adjaho, yesterday eulogised the late Director of Public Affairs of Parliament, Mr Jones Kugblenu, describing him as brilliant, affable, kind and a team player.

According to him, after parliamentary proceedings a few weeks ago, Mr Kugblenu called him and they had a hearty chat.
"We all expected his return, not his death," he said.

Mr Adjaho noted that Mr Kugblenu always tried to calm nerves anytime there was a wrong reportage of parliamentary proceedings and added that anytime Kugblenu intervened, his (Adjaho's) anger died down.

The Director of Public Affairs of Parliament, Mr Jones Kugblenu, said journalists were ascribed a high responsibility and, therefore, they always needed to ascertain whether what they did was in the national interest.

"We have weighed all the options: monetary cost, maintenance and security, and Parliament is of the opinion that giving Parliamentarians rent allowance is the best", stressed Mr. Kugblenu.

Mr Jones Kugblenu, Director of Public Affairs of Parliament told the Ghana News Agency that 24 fresh bills would be placed before the House which include, Presidential Transition Bill, Maritime Boundary Delineation Bill, Forestry Commission Bill, National Health Insurance Bill, Mental Health Bill and Public Holidays Bills.

He said the Right to Information Bill, Interstate Succession Bill, Electoral Commission Bill, Petroleum Exploration and Production Bill, Petroleum and Revenue Bill were referred to various committees before the parliament went on recess.
