COLONEL Jonas Sumagaysay, commanding officer of the Philippine Army's 303rd Brigade, stands firm and laughs off the claims of the New People's Army (NPA) accusing him of lying about alleged 'misencounters' between rebel groups.
maintained that the NPA rebels are actually the ones hiding the truth and spreading lies.
said the NPA rebels cannot even answer his
expose on the shootout and misencounters in their ranks because of alleged unending squabble among NPA leaders.
"They could not even decide whether to answer the expose or not," Sumagaysay
denied the claims of the NPA rebels that it was the government troops that figured in a misencounter in northern Negros.
said government forces cannot hide casualties in encounters with the rebels, as wounded government troops are immediately brought to the hospitals, unlike in the case of the NPA rebels who are the ones hiding and burying their fatalities in secret.
In a statement given to media outlets Monday, the NPA Roslyn Pelle Command accused Sumagaysay and 62nd IB commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Edgardo Gubat as liars in connection with the statements, which the two Army officers issued over alleged misencounter between NPA forces in southern Negros.
Reel spokesperson Ka Cecil Estrella said, in the same statement, the claims of Sumagaysay and Gubat about NPA misencounters and the secret burial of dead NPA rebels are "all lies."
Last January 29, 2011, according to the statement, Sumagaysay
said that a misencounter occurred on the part of the rebels.
