began cooking competitively in 1990, Johnny
has become one of the most successful pitmasters in barbecue.
Traveling from his
home in Alvarado, Texas, Johnny
has logged hundreds of thousands of miles competing in nearly every corner of the United States as well as parts of Europe.
Along the way, Smokin' Triggers
has established itself as one of the premiere barbecue teams on the circuit, winning National Champion honors in 2003 and National Runner-Up twice.
In addition, Smokin' Triggers
has nabbed the Kansas City Barbeque Society Team of the Year multiple times, and with victories in 2000 and 2003, Johnny
became the first and only two-time Jack Daniel's World Invitational Barbecue Champion.
In addition to that memorable career moment, Johnny
will never forget a USO-sponsored mission to Kuwait, where he
and five fellow pitmasters fed authentic barbecue to more than 5,000 U.S. military troops.
Feared most by fellow competitors for his
award winning ribs and brisket, Johnny
remains the oldest active competitor in barbecue, and he
has no intention of slowing down anytime soon.
