Johnny Ruffin, who pitched six seasons in Major League Baseball, has been named the Shreveport Sports' pitching coach for the 2005 season.
Ruffin, 33, pitched 139 games in the big leagues -- all in relief.He was 10-6 with a 4.13 ERA.He spent four years with the Cincinnati Reds and one season with the Arizona Diamondbacks and another with the Florida Marlins.

July 1994: Reliever Johnny Ruffin of the Cincinnati Reds (baseball) apologizes to the club and to fans after pleading no contest in a Florida court to charges of attempted sexual battery.He was arrested in January after a woman told police he had assaulted her in his motel room. (The newspaper account did not mention whether Ruffin also apologized to his victim.)
