NEWPORT- Long-time Brown Funeral Home employee John M. "Johnny" Bugg is seeking the office of city alderman in the Nov. 7 election."Being raised in Cocke County and having lived here all my life, I know the economic hardship our people have suffered.I want to help change this and will work hard for continued improvements," he
said.The city alderman candidate wants to make "continued improvements in our education system and make better use of your tax dollars to improve services you pay for, in addition to bringing good-paying jobs into our city and county."Bugg
, 57, has been with Brown Funeral Home for 23 years and has been married to the former Cathy Frazier Bugg for 34 years.He
lives in Northport and has for about 29 years."I will strive for a better working force relationship with our city employees," said Bugg
."And, I will work hard for a better government all around."He
said that continued cooperation between the city of Newport and Cocke County governments is extremely important."But, my main concern will be more jobs and creating financial security for Newport
and Cocke County citizens," said Bugg
."I believe if we use the common sense approach and if we work together, we can move forward in Newport and Cocke County," he said.

, a chance to work for you, we can put a bug in the city of Newport," he
said.Bugg is a member of the Newport Industrial Board where he serves as vice-chair.He is also a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.Johnny
and Cathy Bugg have one daughter, Penny Nicole Johnson, and one grandson, Ryan Logan Bugg, and son-in-law, Gary Johnson, of New Market.
