Superintendent of Schools Nancy Ruscio said the district hired consultant John Zappia to ensure the business affairs of the district run efficiently.
will be hired for up to three days a week for $350 a day, Ruscio said.
The board voted to hire Zappia
at the end of its meeting after nearly an hour and a half in executive session to discuss personnel.
The board voted to allow Zappia to serve as the district's purchasing agent for the Board of Education and request bids on supplies and equipment.
The superintendent will be able to act as purchasing agent in the absence of the director of business and finance.
The board voted to appoint Zappia
as the district's deputy district clerk, the superintendent's designee-for the BOCES health-consortium, attendance officer and to certify payroll and to provide signatures for district checks.
Zappia served as the interim director of finance for the Warner Graduate School of Education and Human Development at the University of Rochester from September 2009 to June 2010.

Zappia worked with Ruscio at the Canandaigua City School District as assistant superintendent for business affairs from September 2002 to June 2007.
