John was a member of Little Redstone Presbyterian Church, Fayette City R.D., Pa., Gummert Lodge 252 Masons in Fayette City for 62 years and the Uniontown Lodge of Perfection and was a 32nd Degree member of the Pittsburgh Consistory.He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company's Monessen Plant, was a teacher in the Frazier School District and also a farmer.He was a former Tax Collector for Jefferson Township and a member of the Frazier School Board.He owned and operated Strickler Auction Barn and was a member of the National Auctioneers Association and the Pennsylvania Auctioneers Association.John was a Civil War buff because his grandfather Strickler served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War.He served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy during World War II and spent 20 years in the Navy Reserves.He graduated from California University of Pennsylvania in California, Pa.John was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife, Dorothy Warfil Strickler on February 18, 2004.
