Nearly 20 children per case worker are being impacted by the cost-cutting move, Sheehan said, but the other agencies will take care of them.
KCI, a nonprofit charged with developing community-based services, supports the children and families served by the child welfare system and is a managing entity that contracts foster care work to various agencies.The Florida Department of Children and Families has contracted with KCI to be the community-based care lead agency.
Since February KCI has had financial difficulties.No reason was given for the termination of their contract with The Harbor, Sheehan said.
