John Schulte, Schulte Supply owner, gave a presentation to the aldermen regarding the wireless meters.
Rather than requiring a city utility worker to get out and examine each meter, the wireless meters would be able to transmit accurate readings wirelessly to a handheld reading device.
This would save city workers time that could be used to work on other projects.
Depending on population density and the type of equipment purchased, Schulte
said "you could walk out of the building and be reading 250 meters."
