Of the 19 vehicles removed from the river, 14 have already been confirmed as stolen, according to John Roach, spokesman for the Wayne County Sheriff's Department.
"The other cars are being processed as we speak," Roach
"That will help us to confirm whether they were stolen or if there are other issues that we need to look at.
We're treating every vehicle as though it were potentially used in the commission of a crime."
Nothing out of the ordinary turned up during the recovery effort, Roach

"It appears as though a majority of the vehicles were either stolen or used to commit insurance fraud.
The keys were still in the ignition in some of them."
The three-day operation, which commenced Oct. 28, marks the first time the Wayne County Sheriff's Department
has conducted a recovery operation of this scale in Dearborn, Roach
The last major salvage operation took place about eight years ago, during which about six vehicles were recovered.
