John Rhind enjoyed a long and successful career in Canada,s financial services industry.Appointed Treasurer of National Life Assurance Co. of Canada in 1948, he elevated himself into the President,s office by 1966, where he spent the next decade.Mr. Rhind moved to Confederation Life Insurance Co., where he was President and CEO (1976-1981), Chairman and CEO (1982-1985) and Chairman (1985-1990).In 1990, Mr. Rhind became the Chairman of newly-merged financial services firm Midland Walwyn Inc., where he spent five years directing that firm,s growth.Mr. Rhind is retired and living in Toronto, devoting his energies to numerous causes.
As a corporate director, Mr. Rhind has provided valuable advice and oversight to numerous Canadian corporations.Some of these company,s include: BCE Development Corporation, Brookfield Development Corp., Campbell Soup Company Ltd., Canadian Occidental Petroleum Ltd., Dominion Insurance Co., Ford Motor Company of Canada, Lake Louise Lifts Ltd., Ram Petroleums Ltd., and Slough Estates (Canada) Ltd.
A veteran of the Second World War with tours throughout Europe, Mr. Rhind has generously served his community in a number of other ways.A former Chairman and President of the Toronto Western Hospital and an Honorary Trustee of University Health Network, he has lent his energy to the Royal Ontario Museum, where he is an Honorary Trustee and a current Campaign Cabinet member.Mr. Rhind has also served as President of the Canadian Life Insurance Association.

Jack Rhind is a World War II veteran and leading corporate executive. He graduated with a BComm from the University of Toronto in 1942 and enlisted in the army the day after his last university exam. Jack was a Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Artillery and served in both Italy and Holland. After the war, he went to work for the National Life Assurance Company of Canada, where he rose through the ranks, becoming President by 1966. In 1976, he moved to Confederation Life Insurance Company where he served as a leading executive until 1990. He then served as Chairman of Midland Walwyn Inc. before retiring in 1995. A devoted volunteer, Jack served as Chairman and President of Toronto Western Hospital from 1974-1979, and has been a volunteer leader for a number of organizations, including the Royal Ontario Museum, the Canadian Life Insurance Association, the Toronto Board of Trade, and the University of Toronto. Jack is a former President of the UTS Alumni Association (1964) and was the 2011 recipient of the H.J. Crawford Award.
