Pavlock said higher fines are among increased penalties being considered for those who fail to appear without good cause.
Pavlock said those without good reasons could already face the potential of a fine, jail time or community service.
He said the county has had to increase the number of summonses it sends out to make up for those who don't answer.

In other news, McKean County District Attorney John Pavlock is urging all area medical providers and pharmacists to crack down on the abuse of pain relievers, including OxyContin. The D.A. is alarmed about what he describes as "an explosion of illegal use of prescription narcotics, including several overdoses. In some instances, individuals with addictions to other drugs use OxyContin as a substitute when they can't get their illegal drug of choice, Pavlock said. He also recently shared results of a drug task force study over the past two years, showing increased drug activity among young teens. Often, the source of their drugs is their parents' medicine cabinet, Pavlock pointed out.
