He received his undergraduate degree in Economics with distinction from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and his law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Recognized for his expertise in arbitration and mediation Mr. Obiol has served as an instructor training other arbitrators and mediators in a variety of business and governmental settings.
He has served on the Board of Directors for Haven House Services since 1991 and the Volunteer Lawyers Program since 1985.
