Jandes undecided about election

February 09, 2003 - Georgetown Mayor John Jandes said he has not yet decided if he will run for reelection this fall.
"It's too early, petitions don't have to be in until the end of August," said Jandes.
Jandes admitted he is considering not running.Jandes holds down a full-time job and devotes his extra time to the mayor's job.
"Right now I would say I'm not running.I want to put more focus on my family and kids, plus there are some career goals I want to focus on," said Jandes.
Jandes and his wife, Candy, have two children, Alysa, 3, and Lauren, 6.
Jandes was a member of council.
"No one wanted to step up and take it," said Jandes."I don't regret it.It has been an experience of a lifetime. It has given me confidence in my ability to supervise others."
Jandes later ran for the position and was elected to a four-year term which ends next year.
"Yes, Stan called me and I told him I was thinking about not running," said Jandes.
Jandes said he agreed that issue needed to be addressed, but he was also concerned about developing the area around the new Southern Ohio Veterans Home.
"That's were the next area of development is going to be," said Jandes.
The mayor said Georgetown has a variety of needs and his big concern is bringing more businesses to Georgetown.
"Right now people have to go down the road for things (shopping)," said Jandes."People would stay here and shop if businesses were here."
There have been discussions with Skyline Chili and Frisch's about locating restaurants in Georgetown, according to Jandes.
If Jandes decides not to run, public service would not totally be out of his future.
"I would come back to it some day," said Jandes.
The mayor said he would make a decision some time in April on his candidacy.
