Biography of John Carlos Hahn
John C. Hahn, originally from Toronto, Canada is a second generation artist/painter and the grandson of the late, famous artist, Carlos J. Hahn, gold medallist in the international competition of the Marc Chagall Foundation, whose works have been collected by Henry Kissinger, as well as the Venezuelan ambassador to Argentina, Dr. Ernesto Santander among many others. John was inspired and taught by his grandfather and currently resides in Victoria, BC with his 11-year-old son. Hahn's skill level and experience is a mixture of formal training and self-education rising from his deep love for all art forms. As an artist and poet, he has an uncanny ability to share immediately the intimacy of the instance; to simplify and capture the feelings from within. His art lies between motion and stillness; between struggle and surrender; a manifestation of our inner and outer truth. Hahn is an extravert; a sentimental individual interested in life's beats. He feels himself captured by it and his creative intellect and passion for color allow him to create bold, non-objective, dynamic, abstract/semi abstract forms. His paintings represent man's daily desires and anguishes. At the Victoria College of art his work was labeled, "full of flame and flavor ". It is all about releasing emotion. He is often quoted as saying his form of art ought to be called " emotionism." Creating art from true passion, he has never pursued clientele or exhibitions. However, due to word of mouth, he has been fortunate to have his work admired and sought after by several private and corporate collectors across three continents. An exclusive showing entitled " PAINtings" was exhibited in Victoria, in June 2004, at Eric Martin Pavilion's Movie Monday. The theme was taken from a collection John created while battling a complex form of depression and sorrow. It is said, "his fantasy art evokes dialogue; promotes openness to energy and a willingness to have inspiration bond with the human experience". ©Copyright 2004 John C. Hahn, All rights reserved.
