Whereas, John R. Dykers, M.D., served as the Chief of Medical Staff, Chatham Hospital, Inc., from 1 January 1978 to 31 December 1979, and
Whereas, Dr. Dykers exhibited excellent leadership during this time, and
Whereas, the hospital and its medical staff exhibited great growth and development during his time in office, and
Whereas, Dr. Dykers, as Chief of Medical Staff, served well on the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees, and
Whereas, Dr. Dykers, in his position earned the respect of his fellow physicians, fellow members of the Board of Trustees, and employees of the hospital, and the community it serves, and
Whereas, Dr. Dykers was always willing to go beyond the call of duty for the betterment of the hospital;
Therefore Be It Resolved, that the Board of Trustees of Chatham Hospital, Inc., will hereby recognize the outstanding efforts of John R. Dykers, M.D., and do publicly acknowledge their gratitude and indebtedness for these efforts.
Be It Further Resolved, that this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Dykers and his family and that a copy of this resolution be placed in his official medical staff file.

Dr. John R. Dykers, Jr., a Family Physician in Siler City, has been appointed Medical Director for the Brian Center of Nursing Care in Siler City.
Dr. Dykers has previously been active on the Utilization Review Committee at the Nursing Home.
Dr. Dykers is a graduate of Davidson College where he received a B.S. in Biology and Chemistry. He received his medical degree (Doctorate in Medicine) from the University of Chapel Hill.
He has been in the family practice in Siler City for more than 19 years. During this time, he has served three terms as Chief of Medical Staff at Chatham Hospital and has been president of the Chatham County Medical Society. Dr. Dykers is currently a member of the American Academy of Family Practice and the American College of Family Physicians. He is also a member of the Siler City Rotary Club and enjoys working on his farm outside Siler City.

Chatham Hospital honored Dr. John R. Dykers with a reception on Tuesday, Nov. 14 in the hospital conference room to celebrate his 25 th anniversary as a physician and his association with Chatham Hospital.
"It is a real privilege and a pleasure for me to serve as physician to this community. There are wonderful people here," Dykers said. "I am most proud of having had a part in seeing to it that Chatham Hospital became accredited and has remained so, and the regular meeting of the Thursday Morning Intellectual Society, our continuing education group, every other Thursday morning now for eighteen years, is most gratifying."
Chatham Hospital officials noted that Dr. Dykers has done original research and published original papers in the "New England Journal of Medicine", "The Journal of the American Medical Association,", "The American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology", "The Journal of Circulation", and the "North Carolina Medical Journal". He has also authored a section in a textbook of urology.
Dr. Dykers is currently Chief of Staff elect at the hospital and will begin his duties as Chief of Staff for the third time next month. He is also currently a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Departments of Family Practice at Duke University Medical School and the East Carolina University School of Medicine and has formerly held a similar position at the University of North Carolina.
He is also currently serving on the Driver's License Review Boards and serves as Chairman of the physicians in the medical section. He has been guest lecturer at the North Carolina Institute of Medicine and has an international reputation for his research on trichomoniasis.
