Easter Buffet 2001 at the Hilton Sandestin Beach and Golf Resort , served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Sandcastles Restaurant , is one of our most extravagant buffets of the year , said Executive Chef John Carey.

Chef Carey has enjoyed an illustrious career in the culinary arts.He graduated from the prestigious College of Culinary Arts at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island.
After completing a three-year apprenticeship at The Castle in Leicester, Massachusetts, Carey proceeded to hold the sous chef position at such prestigious hotels as The Treemont and Whitehall Hotels in Chicago.
He then accepted the position of Executive Chef at the Windsor Court Hotel in New Orleans, which opened under his guidance to rave reviews.While at the Windsor Court, Carey was bestowed the prestigious Ivy Award, presented by Restaurants and Institutions magazine.He is the youngest chef in America to have won the Ivy Award, whose winners are chosen by ballots cast by professionals in the hotel and restaurant industry.
In addition, Carey has overseen the dining venues and culinary staff at the El San Juan Hotel & Casino in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico, a Five-Star, Five-Diamond tropical resort hotel, and the Omni Chicago Hotel in Chicago.Most recently, he served as Executive Chef at the Marriott City Center Hotel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he was responsible for the operation of the Steelhead Grill, which was voted the Best New Restaurant in Pittsburgh in 1996.
Carey has been a valued member of the Hilton Sandestin Beach team since 1997.

"Pastry Chef Yascha Becker brings a wealth of talent and over 22 years of culinary pastry skills to enhance our guest experience," said Carey.
Born in Rhode Island of Norwegian and German descent, Becker grew up in Seattle and graduated school with a background in fine art. A new media for his creativity was introduced when he found himself in the hotel industry working and learning the culinary arts from some of the great chefs around the country. He spent seven years at the Vinoy Resort in St. Petersburg, Fla., and has spent the past 12 years as the resort pastry chef at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.
