Director
John joined Nintex as CEO after working closely with the company during its expansion planning and its significant financing event with TA Associates and Updata Partners in 2013. In a technology career that extends over three decades, John has founded and built high-growth private and public software companies, co-founded both a highly successful growth equity fund and a leading M&A advisory firm, and served on several public and private boards of directors.
Immediately prior to Nintex, John was a general partner and co-founder of Updata Partners (updata.com), a $500 million technology growth equity fund. He led highly successful investments in firms in several software and digital sectors and worked closely with the management teams in building sustainable market leaders. In prior operating roles, he served as CEO of LEGENT Corporation, a market-leading public firm that grew from $100 million to more than $500 million during his five-year tenure, leading to a cash transaction nearing $2 billion. Prior to that, he co-founded BST, Inc. and led the company to 50 percent Compound Annual Growth Rate from its bootstrapped origins to a sector leader working with many industry-leading partners, culminating in a highly successful combination with LEGENT Corporation, where he became the CEO.
As an expert in leveraging strong organic growth with acquisitions for strategic market expansion, John has been involved with more than 30 M&A events and IPOs. He has served on many public and private boards of directors, including Nintex, Coaxis, Interactions, Numara, OTG Software, MapInfo and Banyan Systems, among others.
Active in the technology community, John is the Chairman of the MidAtlantic Venture Association (MAVA), and a co-founder of the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC), which in 2013 presented him with its Hall of Fame Award for his contributions to the capitol region throughout his career. He is a graduate of Boston College.
