LA Lakers Allow Jordan Clarkson To Play For Philippine Team - AsianFightScene.com

John Black, the Lakers' vice president for public relations, for his part, explained that the September 28 limit of the permission given for Clarkson to play is based on the collective bargaining agreement between the NBA and the Players' Association and the time the Lakers start preparations for the coming season.
"Based on the agreement between th NBA and the players' association, as long as national team play does not interfere with the team requirements and there are no injury issue, it is up to the players whether or not to play," Black said as quoted by Digital Journal. Black emphasized.

Iowa Landing Was ‘Magic’ for the Lakers – Daily Yonder

"It is certainly understood by us," John Black, vice president of public relations for the Lakers said in a phone interview this week.
In fact, Black said that Laker executive vice president Jeanie Buss, daughter of Lakers' owner Jerry Buss and girlfriend to coach Phil Jackson, sent a letter this week to Carroll Mayor Jim Pedelty expressing appreciation for the involvement of Carroll residents that morning. Black said Jeanie Buss had discussed coming to a commemorative event in Carroll Monday - and perhaps even bringing along beau Phil Jackson. Just a few weeks ago, in New York City, Black said, he had dinner with one of the Lakers who'd been on the plane that night in 1960: "Hot" Rod Hundley, who went on to a long career in broadcasting after his playing days were over in Los Angeles. Hundley, according to Black, was filling in recently on a Lakers broadcast. At the dinner Hundley recounted the Carroll landing in some detail, Black said. Black had heard much of the story before but said, "It was new having Rod tell it."

In fact, by Tuesday afternoon, between 400 and 500 media members were issued credentials, said Lakers' longtime publicist John Black, who called those figures "completely unprecedented" for a regular-season game during his 26-year tenure with the team.
Black said such a media onslaught is comparable to one for a conference final game. The Lakers and the NBA had declined more than 200 credential requests by Tuesday afternoon, Black said, though he added that requests were still pouring in for the game, the last of Bryant's 20-season NBA career. For a regular-season game at Staples Center, the Lakers can at most accommodate between 225 and 250 media members, Black said, meaning that many will have to cover Wednesday's game from the arena's press room. As such, Black, who said he has been receiving 50 email requests every hour for days on end, has taken to calling the game a "zircus," meaning both a zoo and circus.
