Joey Elsky is the Senior Pastor of Destiny Christian Center in Prattville, Alabama.

Joey's desire is to see a life-giving church with 5,000 souls worshipping together through multiple campuses in the Prattville, Millbrook and Montgomery areas. Joey is a gifted communicator and is passionate about seeing people meet Jesus and experiencing life-change. He enjoys training leaders in the local church who have a desire for ministry and church planting. Joey also provides leadership and church growth consultation to pastors throughout the nation. We recently had an opportunity to sit down and speak with Joey Elsky, Senior Pastor of Destiny Christian Center.
Destiny Christian Center began, in earnest, to reach the families of Prattville and the surrounding area in 2000. With wildfire-like growth and the recent announcement of a major facility change to accommodate the exploding membership, we had to ask Pastor Joey for his take on some of the recent events. When asked what one thing he liked most about Destiny, Pastor Joey smiled and thought for a moment. "It's difficult to pin one thing down," he said, "but I'd have to go back to the people. The people that come to Destiny create an atmosphere that's just awesome." Pastor Joey has echoed this sentiment in Sunday services. When asked about the stated vision of the church, "Invest, Invite and Involve Prattville area families", Pastor Joey elaborated that the goal and the mission of the church is to 'hold the ladder' for this generation. Pastor Joey believes wholeheartedly that God works through authority and that being accountable is a key to growth. In the last year, the single biggest change that Destiny has undergone has been a powerful explosion of people. Moving from one service and averaging between two hundred and three hundred per Sunday to having two services averaging between four hundred fifty and five hundred fifty has shown what a 'win' looks like in the arena of church growth. One of Destiny's stated goals, according to Pastor Joey, is "to raise up and develop new leaders" who will impact their community and continue the momentum that has been built over the last year. Pastor Joey says that the heart of Destiny is to help others. "It's not always easy and there is a sacrifice to remain real and relevant to people, but we try not to take ourselves too seriously. Everybody and anybody can fit in at Destiny. So long as they're committed to personal growth, we are committed to helping them grow." Pastor Joey has recently laid down a personal gauntlet for Destiny in the goal of planting one thousand churches in the next fourteen years.
