has over 25 years experience in the medical products industry.
In 1983, he co-founded Corazonix Corporation, a cardiovascular instrument manufacturer concentrating in the ultrasound and electrophysiology product areas.
eventually licensed technologies to AH Robins, Hewlett Packard
and Arrhythmia Research Technologies.
In 1986, Dr. Wakil founded EyeSys Technologies, Inc., a leading edge technology development company in the eye care field.
grew to over a $10 million operation in the early 1990s and is largely credited with establishing the field of corneal topography.
sells its products through an extensive worldwide distribution network with over 5,000 ophthalmologists and optometrists as customers.
Dr. Wakil has also assisted several other start-up companies in establishing financing and serving on their boards, such as Science Based Health (1997-1999), a leading provider of ocular nutritional health products and Aris Vision (1998 to 2007), a laser vision center operator.
In 1999, Dr. Wakil co-founded Tracey Technologies and is currently its Chairman and CEO.
develops a proprietary ray tracing aberrometry diagnostic device for eye care in establishing a new standard of care in measuring visual function.
As an internationally recognized educator in his
field, Dr. Wakil
has lectured extensively throughout the world.
