Joe Holstead was born in Waco, Texas in October of 1938.
He began his career in radio as a reporter for WACO Radio.
His first job as News Director was at KILE/Galveston in the late 50's, and resided mostly in Southeast Texas until 1969 working for several radio and television stations including KFDM, KLVI, and KOLE.
In June of 1969, he
was hired by KXOL radio and began his
impressive career, as one of Dallas-Fort Worth's most respected, revered and feared news personalities.
After KXOL he
moved to KLIF, Then to KFJZ and The Texas State Network, KRLD, WFAA and WBAP.
It was at WBAP where he
attracted the ear of nationally syndicated news commentator Paul Harvey.
A friendship and work relationship with Joe
filling in numerous times for Mr. Harvey until his employment with WBAP and ABC Radio ended in 1992.
