Joe joined the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame as its Executive Director in the spring of 2010 during its transition from New Jersey to Davis, California.
He brings a mix of non-profit, for-profit, and cycling-related experiences to the organization including 15 years of classical marketing & brand management expertise garnered from companies like Nabisco, Dannon, and Michelin. He served for 6 years as National Vice President of Strategic Marketing for the American Diabetes Association. Later, as Managing Director for Finch Brands Consulting, he assisted other organizations achieve their potential through research-driven strategic planning & execution.
In addition to being a lifelong cyclist, Joe has worked extensively with the cycling industry, often integrating his passion for the sport into his professional activities. He created the Evian Women's Pro MTB Racing Team, the first all-female professional mountain bike team competing on the UCI circuit, and was title sponsor for the Dos Equis-Barracuda Pro Team. He launched the "Ride for the Wild" Bike Festival series to benefit World Wildlife Fund, and provided marketing support for the ADA National "Tour de Cure" diabetes fundraising program. His extensive consulting work with Performance Bicycles and his experience as an IBD shop racing team manager & coach round out his cycling experience. He even raced on the NORBA amateur circuit "back in the early days" and has the chain ring scars to prove it.
Joe earned an MBA from Cornell University and holds a degree in Kinesiology from the University of Maryland.
He is now putting all of these skills & experiences to good use, building the USBHOF brand, and supporting its mission to preserve and honor America's rich cycling history.
