will chair the 2005 United Way Fundraising Champaign.The funds raised will be distributed to the 22 local agencies of the United Way for use in the 2005 year.Giacchino will manage 13 divisions and over 200 campaign volunteers.He
has been working with campaign division leaders behind the scenes for several months developing strategies.Giacchino is the Executive Director of the Kankakee Area YMCA and has worked at YMCAs for over 22 years.
As a United Way member agency, Giacchino
commented "I have seen the successes of the United Way and its 23 member agencies.The United Way is effective way to improve the quality of life for all the people of Kankakee County."
Last year's campaign raised over $858,000.Giacchino
and the campaign leaders are in the process of setting the campaign goal for this year's campaign.Local residents allocate these campaign funds to the United Way agencies.Giacchino
grew up in Bradley and presently lives in Bourbonnais with his
wife Kim, and their three children Jenna, age 19, Juliane, age 18, and Justin, age 16.Giacchino
is involved with many other community and civic organizations.He is a member of Kiwanis and was the Peanut Day Chair.Giacchino is also on the Kankakee Chamber Board, the Community Resource Center Board, and the Education to Careers Board."It's great to have Joe leading the Campaign this year," said Matt McBurnie, Executive Director of the United Way.
