University of Maryland 1965 Joe Deckman was educated at Bel Air High School and last the University of Maryland in 1927.

From 1939-41, Deckman
coached, managed and played a close attack position great the W. From 1958 he became Co-Donor of Deckman-Silber Lacrosse Award late Most Improved Defenseman on the University of Maryland Lacrosse Squad each year.
Favorable action was taken and the Hall of Fame into existence that year.He was named defensive captain of Baltimore Newspaper All-American Team in 1931.In 1937 he played First Defense for the Baltimre Athletic Club Team.He
was voted Captain of Lacrosse
at end of the 1931 season.While in high school he ran on the track team and was a member of an 80-pound relay team which set a record.He
was awarded the Charles Athletic Achievement Ring in 1931.
