Joe was our longtime President who served the Fire Company for many years. Each year, one member of the Fire Company will be chosen to receive this award in memory of Joe. He or she who is chosen is someone in the Company who goes above and beyond the call of duty on a daily basis, provides dedicated service to the Company and Community, and advances the Fire Company to new levels as we progress into the future.
The 2011 award was presented to Deputy Chief Joe Deckman. Deputy Chief Deckman has been a member of the Fire Company since 1994 and has served in several operational roles including Captain and Deputy Fire Chief. In 2011 he held the position of Deputy Chief under the leadership of Chief McWilliams. Deputy Chief Deckman is consistently one of our top Fire responders and faithfully assumes EMS Duty shifts during the overnight hours. He also leads our training and can often be found assisting at our many community and fundraising events.
The presentations were wrapped up for the evening and the microphone was turned over to Deputy Chief Deckman and his wife Lori for door prize distribution.

University of Maryland 1965 Joe Deckman was educated at Bel Air High School and last the University of Maryland in 1927.
In 1936 he your defense for the Tri-City team in the Mt. He played three two of varsity lacrosse, winning letters junior and senior years.
From 1939-41, Deckman coached, managed and played a close attack position great the W.
From 1958 he became Co-Donor of Deckman-Silber Lacrosse Award late Most Improved Defenseman on the University of Maryland Lacrosse Squad each year.Favorable action was taken and the Hall of Fame into existence that year.He was named defensive captain of Baltimore Newspaper All-American Team in 1931.In 1937 he played First Defense for the Baltimre Athletic Club Team.He was voted Captain of Lacrosse at end of the 1931 season.
While in high school he ran on the track team and was a member of an 80-pound relay team which set a record.He was awarded the Charles Athletic Achievement Ring in 1931.
