is campaigning for a Selectboard seat for the first time this year, though he
been considering it for years.
"I thought about running on and off for probably 10 years, and I finally got to where I felt it was my time," he
Bushey grew up in Brattleboro and considers himself to be a life-long member of the community.

DRB members are only allowed to serve for a maximum of nine years in a row, he
"I knew I was going to have to get off the DRB this year, and I wanted to try to serve the town to a greater degree," Bushey
said one of his
greatest accomplishments on the DRB was his
role on a three-person subcommittee that revised the language for the waiver ordinances.
"Previous to that, the only way to get an exemption on a zoning ordinance was through a variance, and
taken literally, the conditions necessary in order to meet the criteria of the variance made it almost impossible," Bushey
"We added language to allow a greater level of flexibility in the ordinance."
Bushey is a member of the Brattleboro Community Television Board of Directors and produces the show "The Pulse of Brattleboro" with current Selectboard member Daryl Pillsbury.
would like to represent the "common person" on the board.
