On Sunday, January 12th, Joe Bendel, a writer for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, wrote a really fine piece on the former Williamsport Millionaire standout. Bendel
went right at the very tough and uncertain life Troutman had growing up here to which Chevy said It wasn¹t normal. It wasn¹t normal at all.Bendel
wrote that, because of that life of disarray Troutman was living as a youth, the stage was being set for this young man to fail. That he
would never make it out of Williamsport
That¹s what everybody thought of me>, Troutman told Bendel
.Nobody thought I¹d be here at the University of Pittsburgh
right now. They doubted me even on the day I signed my letter to Pitt. They said-He¹ll mess up right before he
leaves.He¹ll be in a trouble.He¹ll screw the whole thing up.Bendel
noted that it is now three years since Troutman signed his
name on that dotted line at Pitt - he
sat out as a freshman as a partial qualifier. He
was asked by Bendel
had anything to say to those who questioned him.No, Nothing.
There is more in the Bendel article about the Troutman basketball experience at Pitt.
