The head coaches (Tyree Spinner of Wootton, Joe Allen of Churchill) shook hands and continued down the line.
Joe Allen sat in his home one day after the season ended, contemplating what he could possibly do to bolster the morale of his football team. It was one of the few times he had a chance to relax since the 2014 season ended with his Churchill Bulldogs on the outside of the playoffs looking in with a 6-4 record. Failure was new to Allen, who is currently the head coach at Northwood High School. He helped turn the Bethesda-based high school into a perennial 4A playoff contender. Allen heard his iPhone ring, picked it up, slid his thumb across the screen and answered the call. It was one of his assistant coaches on the other end. "I was at home and I got a phone call from one of my coaches and he told me that and I was like wow that's crazy," Allen said. "Blake should've been moved to a Strong Safety two years ago, but when we wanted to do it he didn't want to do it and his [family] didn't want to do it because he getting all of these accolades at inside linebacker," said Allen.
