The dinners take place several times each school year and have been ongoing for a decade under the direction of Joan Hornby, adult education director.
More than 100 senior residents take part in the activities which are funded through donations and grants. Students serve the meals and welcome the guests to the activites at the high school. Those activities include concerts, plays, sporting events and others. "This is a great way for the generations to interact and get to know each other better," Hornby explained.

According to Interact Club Advisor, Joan Hornby, the numbers are staggering.
"Times are especially tough and the outpouring of generosity from our students and community is truly amazing," she said. All of the recipient families are Mundelein residents, primarily living in Districts 75 and 76. They are provided with clothing, food, toys and other items to help them during the holiday season. A special event was held recently that included a visit from Santa and a special treat for many of the children. In addition to the students in Interact, other MHS clubs, individuals, and classes as well as local businesses have donated money and/or items for the families. The Girls' Basketball team alone collected $600 toward the Adopt-a-Family program. Hornby praised the Interact officers for their hard work spearheading the program.
