Dr. Joan Fallon, Founder and CEO Curemark

Dr. Fallon brings to Curemark LLC visionary science and its application to multiple disease targets. Having filed her first patent application in 1999, Dr. Fallon has worked to research autism and related disorders, as well as to bring her findings to a platform for commercialization. She has both clinical expertise running a private practice specializing in pediatric development, as well as academic experience as an assistant professor of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Yeshiva University. Dr. Fallon has also been an integral part of two very successful medical ventures, which were both unprecedented at the time of formation. Dr. Fallon was a board member at Oxford Health Plans, and was instrumental in achieving underwriting authority for alternative and complementary medicine from New York State when none had ever existed. She also was able to implement a health plan for Oxford involving children that was cost effective, interdisciplinary, and which increased the level of quality care for all children enrolled in Oxford. Dr. Fallon's discovery of a biomarker for autism and ADHD and her vast array of the intellectual property in the area of gastrointestinal secretory deficiencies, forms the basis of Curemark. Dr. Fallon has written numerous scholarly articles, and has lectured around the world on developmental problems in the pediatric population. She has served on the Board of directors of the ICA and Kentuckiana Children's Center. She has a BA degree from Franklin and Marshall College, a DC degree from Palmer University, and has completed the coursework for the MSc in clinical investigation from Harvard University's joint program with Massachusetts General Hospital. She resides in Bronxville, NY.

Consider Curemark, a biotech company founded by pediatric doctor Joan Fallon. She noticed that many of the autistic children she treated were low on a certain kind of enzyme for processing protein, and that they all had similar diets. Fallon began investigating ideas for alternative treatments.

She's since quit her medical practice and has built a company on her insights. 10 years later, Curemark has raised $50 million, and has completed phase 3 trials with the FDA. In other words, she found a problem that matters.
