Joan Dostal, OTR/L, Clinical Specialist
Joan V. Dostal
brings 35+ years of clinical experience in a wide array of settings.
As part of the Cincinnati occupational therapy community she
has worked primarily in pediatrics including newborn intensive care, schools, mental health clinic, long term residential care and clinics.
She has, for the past 30 years, been with Cincinnati Occupational Therapy Institute with responsibilities as clinician, co-owner and clinical specialist.
specialty area is sensory integration where she
mentors COTI staff and supports area therapists through consultation and training.
Joan has served on a variety of community boards and currently is a member of the Regional Autism Advisory Council.
Due to her
passion for sharing her
understanding of sensory integration and its impact throughout the lifespan, she
gives numerous presentations to community parent groups and professionals.
Joan also serves as the vice president of COTF.
was awarded the Virginia Scardina Lectureship Award by the Ohio Occupational Therapy Association
, 2004: the Xavier University
OT Department Service Award, 2004 and the Virginia Scardina Award of Excellence from the American Occupational Therapy Foundation
She served on the Sensory Integration Special Interest Section of the American Occupational Therapy Foundation from 2002-2005.
She graduated from the University of Wisconsin/Madison with a BS in occupational therapy in 1976.
