East Hartford, CT - JoAnn Maurer of Newtown was named 2004 State REALTOR® of the Year by the Connecticut Association of REALTORS®, Inc. (CAR).
was presented this distinguished award at the CAR Leadership Conference held at the Mystic Marriott Hotel & Spa on December 1.
This illustrious award is given annually to one REALTOR® who demonstrates commitment, leadership and great strength to the REALTOR® trade association at the State, National and Local levels.

Maurer is a member of the Newtown Board of REALTORS® and is currently employed at William Pitt Real Estate in Newtown.
Maurer sits on CAR's Board of Directors and is Chair of the Issues Advocacy Committee.
She serves on the Legislative, International and Political Contact Network Committees.

in 1997, Smart Growth Presidency PAG in 2000, Housing Fund Task Force in 2001, RPAC
Trustees Committee in 2000 and 2001 and Region 2 Vice President in 1998, 1999 and 2001 just to name a few.
She has been active on several other committees during the past eight years.
On the local level Maurer is President of the Newtown Board
and sits on its Board of Directors.
She is Chairperson of REALTORS'at the Capitol and is a member of the Nominating and Orientation Board Committees.
participated in the Leadership Seminar and Presidents Meeting in New Haven in 2004.
In 1994 Maurer was Secretary, Vice President in 1995 and 2003 and Board President in 1996.
She chaired the REALTOR® of the Year Committee in 1997, Legislative Committee in 1995 and 2003 and well as serving on many other committees over the years.
In addition to her
association work Maurer taught religious education from 1978 until 1983.

was involved with Habitat for Humanity in 1996 and 1997.
