Jo Ling Kent joined Fox Business Network (FBN) as a reporter in May 2013 and covers the global technology sector. Since joining the network, she has led reporting on the Alibaba IPO and interviewed technology heavyweights including Alibaba co-founder and executive chairman Jack Ma, Box CEO Aaron Levie and T-Mobile CEO John Legere.
Prior to joining FBN, Kent served as an on-air reporter for NBC's owned-and-operated station WVIT-TV in Hartford, CT. In this role she covered local businesses as a general assignment and investigative reporter. She was a member of the reporting team awarded a Peabody Award for coverage of the Newtown school shooting. Kent also covered the 2012 presidential campaign as an embedded reporter with NBC News. Before joining NBC, she covered the Chinese economy, human rights, Taiwan trade and environmental issues as an associate producer in CNN's Beijing bureau. Kent also covered the Beijing Olympics, 2008 Taiwan elections, unrest in Tibet and the 2008 Sichuan earthquake as a web reporter for ABC News in China.
A graduate of the London School of Economics and Peking University, Kent holds two Master's degrees in international affairs, in addition to a Bachelor's of Arts degree from Rice University. She was a U.S. Fulbright Fellow to China, specializing in the effects of legal aid for underprivileged women in the criminal justice system under China's preeminent activist lawyers. She originally hails from Minnesota and is fluent in Mandarin. She sits on the board of Minnesota YMCA Youth in Government.

Jo Ling Kent, associate producer and Web journalist for CNN's Beijing bureau, reflects on her experiences in news media.

Jo Ling Kent is an associate producer and Web journalist for CNN based in the Beijing bureau. As one of two producers covering China for all CNN platforms, she has produced breaking news and features on Liu Xiaobo's Nobel Peace Prize, the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, Google's decision to leave China, President Obama's first visit to Asia, China's 60th anniversary, the environment, currency, China's youngest elected village chief and, most recently, China's reactions to events in the Middle East and the Japan earthquake. From 2007 to 2008, Kent was a Web journalist for ABC News, covering the Beijing Olympics, the 2008 Taiwan presidential elections, the Sichuan earthquake and the economy. She was also a member of the first-ever team of American journalists to broadcast live from Tibet to the United States.
Kent is also the founder and chair of the Annual International Women's Day Benefit, a fundraising event and scholarship program that since 2006 has funded women teachers and grassroots mentoring programs that have empowered young women in the United States and China.
A U.S. Fulbright Fellow to China from 2006 to 2007, Kent received master's degrees in international affairs from the London School of Economics (LSE) and Peking University, where she was a Wagoner Fellow. She also holds a B.A. in history, policy studies and Asian studies from Rice University, where she was a member of the Baker Institute Student Forum (BISF).
