Jim Paapke, OMC's facilities director, said the deadline for bids is June 19 with contract approval as soon as June 20 and work to start immediately.
The work will be finished "September-ish," he
said, "which is pretty aggressive, but we're pushing hard on it."
Roofing and much of the ventilation work can be done during the day, but any work that would impede clinic operations will be done after hours, Paapke
said "it's a pretty tough bidding market out there right now," he
added that at least two Port Angeles contractors - Aldergrove Construction Inc. and Hoch
- "will both be bidding the project."
Phase 2 of the improvements will cost another $250,000 to $400,000, Paapke
said, to provide from one to four more examination rooms and other features the clinic's doctors and staff have requested.
said those tasks could be done when OMC
performs maintenance that Virginia Mason deferred.
