Jim O'Sullivan became Sheriff of the City of Chesapeake in 2012.
Sheriff O'Sullivan is known for his dedication to service and the community as evident by his city being recognized by the FBI as one of America's safest. A successful high school athlete, he received a basketball scholarship from Adams State University. Under his leadership, the department has an abundance of youth programs such as "ASPIRE - Leadership" whose mission is the development of leadership skills in young females by reinforcing ethics, self-esteem and public service and "STAR" which works to instill the core values of professionalism, leadership, and community involvement in young boys and girls.
