Rev. Dr. James G. Mentzer
Jim received a BA and MA from Allegheny College and Duke University, respectively, a Masters of Divinity from Duke University Divinity School and a Doctor of Ministry from Union Presbyterian Seminary.
He spent many years as a United Methodist Pastor of several churches in North Carolina before taking the position of Director of Planned Giving - United Methodist Foundation, Inc. in Garner, North Carolina where he focused on investment management and planned giving.
At the conference level, he service as Chair of the Insurance Committee and is also a member of the Socially-Responsible Investing Task Force.
Currently, Jim is the President of the United Methodist Foundation of New England and serves as chair of this charitable foundation that supported the New England Conference of the United Methodist Church.
The United Methodist foundation currently manages an investment portfolio totaling just over $96 million which benefits the annual conference, local churches, boards, and agencies in the Northeast.
Jim and his wife Jo Ann have 3 children and 1 grandson.

Planned Giving Director: Rev. Jim Mentzer, CLU, ChFC
Rev. James G. Mentzer, CLU, ChFC, currently serves as Director of Planned Giving for United Methodist Foundation, Inc. of Raleigh.
In this capacity, he
provides gift planning and endowment education through presentations at Conference, district, and local church events, as well as through one-on-one consultations.
is an ordained elder in the North Carolina Conference with twelve years of experience serving the local church.
Since 1986, he has also worked as a financial planner.
As part of his
continuing commitment to education, Jim
has earned both the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) designations from the American College
Prior to entering ordained ministry, he
worked for twenty years in both the public and private sectors.
Jim received his B.A. in history from Allegheny College (Pennsylvania) in 1971, an M.A. in history from Duke University in 1972, his Masters of Divinity degree from Duke Divinity School in 1999, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree at Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia.
