Jim Hakes is a Senior Associate in the San Francisco office of Handel Architects.
He is currently the Project manager for the Rosewood Abu Dhabi, a one-million-square-foot mixed-use project currently under construction in the United Arab Emirates.

includes a fi ve-star Rosewood hotel, serviced apartments, banquet facilities, spa, fi tness center, retail space, restaurants, and parking.
The project is scheduled for completion in 2012 and will seek LEED certification.

He was also Project Manager for the design phase of NOVE San Francisco, a LEED Platinum residential development in San Francisco completed in 2010.

This 18-story tower is wrapped in silvery glass curtainwall with tigris mesh screening to create a protective layer against solar heat gain.
The building's massing was approached as a series of staggered cubes offset from one another to create outdoor terraces that can be utilized by the employees as break out space.
Prior to joining Handel Architects, Mr. Hakes was a Project Manager at GBQC Architects in Philadelphia where he worked on educational, hospitality, office, museum, and federal government projects.
Mr. Hakes was also a Project Architect at DeStefano + Partners in Chicago, where he completed the renovation of McDonald's corporate headquarters.
Mr. Hakes holds a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Taubman College at the University of Michigan.
While completing his Master of Architecture at The University of Pennsylvania School of Design, Mr. Hakes was awarded the E. Lewis Dales Memorial Fellowship, the David Lukens Bockius, Jr. Traveling Scholarship, and the Frank Miles Day Memorial Prize.
He is a registered architect in California and Pennsylvania, and a member of the American Institute of Architects, and a LEED Accredited Professional.
