selected as director of human resource development
Hagerstown, MD (February 22, 2010) - After an exhaustive interview process, Jim Cannon has been named the new director of human resource development (HRD) at Washington County Hospital.
Cannon comes to Washington Country Hospital from Hagerstown Community College where he was the director of continuing education.
worked with many local businesses to train and educate employees and said that he
is excited to do the same work within one organization.
Another aspect of the position that attracted Cannon
was its service to the community, "I feel privileged to serve and work within the community.
I have lived in Hagerstown for over four decades and have a strong personal commitment and desire to serve where I live," he
Cannon will oversee HRD's programs with the primary goal being responsive to both the community and the internal needs of the hospital.
Internally, Cannon hopes to continue the hospital's successful employee training and tuition reimbursement programs.
"Internal health education is hugely important in a system like ours.
We need it to be cutting edge," said Cannon
also hopes to expand the hospital's large professional certification and accreditation programs to extend to healthcare professionals outside of Washington County Hospital
Externally, Cannon hopes to continue to develop the numerous community health programs which provide health education at little or no cost.
hopes to increase patronage and widen the audience spectrum of these programs in order to provide useful health information to as many people as possible.
"Proactive community health is very important, and our programs promote holistic, preventative health.
We want people to have a desire to learn about the benefits of good health," said Cannon
Cannon graduated from Frostburg State University in 1993 with a bachelor's degree in sociology and also holds a master's degree in strategic leadership from Mountain State University.
