Racing Victoria Ltd's retiring chief handicapper, Jim Bowler, has accepted a new position of racing manager for significant Victorian owner Lloyd Williams.

Bowler is retiring at age 55 from Racing Victoria after surprisingly announcing just before the Spring Racing Carnival that the 2004 carnival would be his last preparing the handicaps for the international profile Melbourne Cup.He officially will leave Racing Victoria on December 31st, 2004.
Williams has in excess of 100 horses in training and each year he purchases yearlings, many with the assistance of trainer Graeme Rogerson.
He has enjoyed considerable success on the race track with Cambridge Stud's Group I Danehill stallion Keeper racing in William's silks before retiring to stud.Recently the Zabeel colt Reset established a huge reputation retiring to Darley Australia for stallion duties unbeaten after being purchased for what was believed to be a considerable sum.
Bowler will take up his position with Williams early in 2005.
