Dr. Jim Binney
will be the keynote speaker this year at a Couples Conference hosted by Yates-Thagard Baptist Church in Whispering Pines Friday, Jan. 23 and Saturday, Jan. 24.
Binney, a distinguished Baptist preacher, founded and pastored the Heritage Baptist Church of Foxboro, Mass., served as senior pastor of Rose Park Baptist Church in Holland, Mich. before serving as senior pastor of the Cornerstone Baptist Church of Fayetteville.
Binney also served as president of the Fundamental Baptist Fellowship, an independent statewide organization of pastors, for eight years.
He was also a member of the executive committee of the Fundamental Christian Coalition, an organization representing over 700 churches in Michigan and responsible for introducing some needed legislation.
Currently, he is the director of the Master of Arts Program in Biblical Counseling at Northland Baptist Bible College of Dunbar, Wis., and teaches regularly in the program.
"We had Jim speak last year at a pre-marital conference, which was exquisite," said Tim Epling, conference director.
"So we asked Jim
would come back and speak to couples in need of counseling, and he
would love to."

wife of 36 years Sandra, specializes in marriage counseling through L.E.A.D. (Leadership Enrichment And Development) Ministries.
According to a spokesman, the primary goal of L.E.A.D. Ministries is to "Encourage pastors, deacons and other leaders in ministry, through Biblical counseling.
Every year, a group of full-time Christian workers will travel to Moorehead Manor, the estate of actress Agnes Moorehead, in Ohio.
Moorehead, who is best known for her
work on 1960s sitcom Bewitched, was an ardent Christian, who specified that her
estate be used for Christian ministry after her
was compelled to start L.E.A.D, as he
watched an increasing number of his
colleagues leave the pastorate every year.

contemporaries could go for help with marriage problems, financial woes, parental issues, and other problems confronting today's religious leaders.
Over 600 leaders and their wives have received help from L.E.A.D since it's inception in 1989.
"After spending a week at the Manor many have seen broken marriages restored, some have received a renewed vision for their ministry, others have experienced victory over personal struggles," said a spokesman for Binney
"But all have clearly seen the value of Christ's counsel about taking themselves out of the ministry to gain a fresh perspective."
