Jill Bronaugh, a former assistant to Gov.Bronaugh, 36, of 1280 S.W. Lakeside Drive, said in a news release Tuesday that she will officially announce her candidacy at 11:30 a.m. today at City Hall, 215 S.E. 7th.District 6: Jill Bronaugh, Fred GatlinOfficial announcements of their candidacies are planned today by Bronaugh and Thursday by Dunn."We need people on the city council who will make progressive decisions when it comes to the future of our city," Bronaugh said.Bronaugh, who works as communications officer for the Washburn Endowment Association, is making her first run for public office.She formerly was a constituent services liaison for Graves and a freelance communications specialist."My extensive background in marketing and communications and work in the trenches of government with constituents during the Graves administration prepared me to be a responsive and accountable councilwoman," she said.Bronaugh graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Florida and was a sports reporter for the St. Augustine Record in St. Augustine, Fla., before moving to Topeka close to 10 years ago.
