A partial screening of the film "The Pianist" followed by a talk/discussion and question and answer period with Jessica Kate Meyer, the actress who played the younger sister Halina in the film, and who gave up her career as an actress to become a rabbinical student at the Rabbinical School of Hebrew College.
Jessica Kate Meyer received her BA from Wellesley College.
After graduation, she
moved to Israel and worked with a Jewish-Israeli, Palestinian-Israeli theater company.
She pursued a degree in theater in London, and acted in many theater and film projects including Roman Polanski's "The Pianist.
After moving to Los Angeles, she
became active in the Jewish community Ikar, where she
served as assistant to the shaliakh tsibur, and taught the music of prayer to children of all ages.
As a musician, she
loves to study Klezmer and Sephardic music, and has toured with the Los Angeles-based Yuval Ron Ensemble
Currently, Jessica is a student in the rabbinical and cantorial schools of Hebrew College, and leads children's programming for TBZ in Brookline.
