Jesse Timberlake
Jesse Timberlake recently joined the Boise office and is working on Defenders' proactive wolf project field guide, the northern Rockies wolf compensation program, and our public outreach efforts regarding wolves and other native regional endangered species conservation issues. He works with local ranching communities across the northern Rocky Mountains region to help offset wolf losses and to initiate use of animal husbandry practices that will result in a more conservation-minded approach to wolf management. Before joining Defenders of Wildlife, Jesse worked with the U.S. Forest Service and U.S. Geological Survey in Montana, mapping vegetation structure and composition for use in wild land fire management. He began his conservation career working for the Ossabaw Island Foundation in Georgia, conducting public outreach and interpretive nature education. Jesse Timberlake holds a BSc in Zoology from the University of East Anglia and a Masters degree in Taxonomy and Biodiversity from Imperial College, London.

"If we work with producers and help keep their sheep safe, they won't have to remove any wolves we hope," said Jesse Timberlake, a field technician for Defenders of Wildlife, a conservation group that has supported wolf reintroduction by paying ranchers for their losses.
Defenders put $21,000 into the project.
