Officers were initially called at 11:24 a.m. to the home with the caller stating that a man had "pistol whipped" her and the gun had discharged. She further reported that the man had left the scene in a tan Mazda passenger car and was in possession of both a pistol and a shotgun.
Havelock police along with Craven County sheriff's deputies responded along with an ambulance from Havelock Fire and Rescue Department.
Monette said that Adams was out looking for Pohoresky when Havelock Police and Craven Sheriff's deputies encountered him and initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle with guns drawn on a dirt road off N.C. 101 about six-tenths of a mile east of N.C. 306 (Ferry Road).
