...Jerry Halfmann has been a beloved Tucson High School photography instructor since 1977.He holds a BA in Graphic Arts Education from Arizona State University and an MA in Vocational Education from Northern Arizona University.He
has earned many professional honors: Photo Imaging Educators Association
in 1993 as one of the top three photo educators in the country; he
has won multiple Teacher of the Year awards, and was a national winner of the Beseler/Agfa Excellence in Photographic Education award in 1990.In keeping with the recognition he
has received as an educator, Halfmann's students regularly receive local, state and national recognition for their work, both in fine arts and vocational photography, and his
graduates are consistently placed in careers in the field.
As a testament to the value of Halfmann's work, former students often return to Tucson High to help the program where they got their start.Students recognize him as the one who defined their high school experience, sparking not only four years of good memories but four years that set the stage for future careers and lives doing work that they love.Jerry Halfmann
