Department Head of Photography and Media Arts at Tucson High Magnet School He has earned many professional honorsincluding recognition by Photo Imaging Educators Association in 1993 as one of the top three photo educators in the country; multiple Teacher of the Year awards, and in 1990 was a national winner of the Beseler/Agfa Excellence in Photographic Education award. In keeping with the recognition he has received as an educator, Halfmann's students regularly receive local, state and national recognition for their work, both in fine arts and vocational photography, and his graduates are consistently placed in careers in the field. The Museum of Contemporary Art recently honored Jerry with their Lifetime Achievement Award.
