Hylton graduate Jerome Hruska began his career as the Nationals' regular public address announcer on Monday.Hruska, 27, had done fill-in work before for the Nationals as well as the Class-A Potomac Nationals. He worked last year's Friday night game against the New York Yankees, which had one of Nats' best attendance totals of the season -- 44,749.Hruska grew up as a Yankees fan, so that only added to the pressure, and he admitted he was nervous. So working an opener against the Florida Marlins with 4,000 fewer people wasn't that big of a deal, right?"I wouldn't say that.Opening day is a totally different monster," he said.Hruska won a three-person tryout over the winter after the Nationals announced that former P.A. announcer Jim Clarke would not return.Hruska was Clarke's back-up last year and was also a spotter in the RFK press box.
