Jeremy Dear, former head of factual at Pioneer Productions, has launched new production venture, The Ideas Room.
Dear said: "We're already in discussions with networks about several series which we hope to be able to announce soon. Our main aim for the company is to put the creation of audience-winning IP centre stage and place a serious emphasis on development. We want to give it the respect it deserves and keep up to date with broadcasters' needs on both sides of the Atlantic - fulfilling them with targeted pitches from the best creatives around."
The new company also plans to become a clearing house for third party pitches. Dear said: "The potential from untapped development talent is huge. We want people from all levels in the industry to come to us with their ideas or set of characters, safe in the knowledge we'll cut them a proper deal."
Before Pioneer Productions, Dear was head of television at the Travel Channel UK. His credits include C4's Christianity: A History as well as BBC's How Sex Works.
