Eubank Will Play a New Role [cached]

Ponca City native Jeff Eubank, U.S. Deputy Chief of Protocol for the United States, is getting ready to play another role on the world stage.

Eubank, a member of President George Bush's administration, both as president and governor of Texas, has recently accepted the position as vice president, International Relations for the New York Stock Exchange.
This means a move to New York from Washington, D.C., but still as an active participant on the international scene.
During the years of government service to the Bush administration as chief deputy of Protocol, Eubank has escorted leaders from around the world.
Eubank has come a long way since 1980, when he was president of the student body at Ponca City High School.
Although his family history is ingrained in politics, few would figure that the great-grandson of Oklahoma Lt.Gov.
Eubank is a nephew of Sen.J.
Eubank also accompanied and supervised the logistics for personal representatives sent by President Bush to represent him at official events abroad.
For Christmas in 2004, Jeff put together a photograph album for his parents, George D. and Virginia Eubank, 28 Stoneridge.
Jeff noted that the fundraiser was sparsely attended because everyone thought that defeating Gov.
"In my first meeting with Bush, I was impressed with what was an obvious commitment to the betterment of Texas," Eubank said.
When Bush was elected governor of Texas, Eubank, joined his staff in 1995 after practicing law for seven years.
"I planned to work for him just a short while and ended up spending 10 and a half years," Eubank said.
Eubank is leaving the administration now because of an opportunity that he feels he could not personally past up, that of Vice President, International Relations for the New York Stock Exchange.Apparently this will still involve international travel, but not on Air Force 1 or handling the president's motorcades.
He mentioned that the New York Stock Exchange is 212 years old and is the largest financial market in the world."I felt it will be a very productive and a great experience to work with the financial markets. It was one of those opportunities that I felt I could not , not take."
Jeff, who is single, has traveled around the world but would like to go back as a tourist and "see" the sights, because he was always busy with protocol duties when traveling.
Loves P.C.
On a visit here prior to moving to New York from the Watergate Hotel in Washington, Eubank said, "My job has taken me all over the world, but the further I have traveled the more I appreciate where I came from," he said.
Eubank attributes his success to his family, his mom and day and his brother David and family, friends and the Ponca City Community.
Recalling his time in Ponca City, Jeff remembers his school days at old Lincoln School and West Junior High.
Prior to going to Washington, D.C., Eubank served as general counsel to the Texas Department of Commerce.Next he became general counsel to Bush's first secretary of state in Texas, Tony Garza.Garcia became ambassador to Mexico later.
Continuing his general counsel to the secretary of state Eubank served Al Gonzales, now United States Attorney General.
Jeff then became assistant secretary of state in Texas for Governor Bush.
That is why when he was elected president and went to Washington it was a logical transition for me to work as the president's deputy chief of protocol," Eubank said.
Eubank was recently featured in Afterwords, a publication of the Fulbright and Jaworski alumni magazine.
