This year, West Ranch's Jeff Coprich, Kyle Alexander and Quaid Willis, Valencia's Tedric Thompson, Saugus' Tyler Watt and Golden Valley's Earl Johnson are a few of the players highlighting the event which takes place on Jan. 15 at the Redeemer Missionary Baptist Church.
It's the first time the event has recognized high school athletes as award recipients according to Jeff Coprich Sr., the founder of the Inner City Youth Foundation. Founder & Director, Inner City Youth Foundation & the Los Angeles Inner City Mass Choir Jeffrey is founder and president of the Inner City Youth Foundation which supports and provides programs and services in the Arts, Music, Entertainment, Self-Esteem, Character Building, Community Service, Literacy, and Mentoring. Jeffrey continuously strives to succeed in its mission to promote safe, healthy, and non-violent environments by uniting African American and Hispanic at-risk youth residing in socially deprived areas of Los Angeles County. Along with its Inner City Mass Choir, the Foundation supports and provides programs and services in the Arts, Music, Entertainment, Self-Esteem, Character Building, Community Service, and Mentoring, The foundation also provides a Literacy Education Program through The Essence K. Coprich Library located at 116th Street School in Los Angeles and Jeffrey Coprich Jr. Essence K.Coprich Book Club. The Inner City Destiny Awards is a vision of its beneficiary, the Los Angeles Inner City Mass Choir, which rose from the ashes of this city's 1992 riots under the direction of Jeffrey Coprich.

alencia High's Billy Shipman, Hart High's Tim White and West Ranch High's Jeff Coprich will suit up for the CIF-Southern Section North All-Star team in its game against the Southern Section South at 6 p.m.The game is the third of a triple header, with the L.A. City Section playing the San Diego Section at 3 p.m., and L.A./Ventura North eighth-graders matching up with L.A. South eighth-graders at noon.Shipman, White and Coprich will be coached on the North team by Oaks Christian head coach Bill Redell, who took his team to the CIF-SS Northern Division finals this season before falling to Open Division State Bowl South representative Westlake.Orange Lutheran's Jim Kunau, who was relieved of his head coaching position at the school following the season, will lead the South team.
